"I want my daughter to watch this when she falls asleep, and when she wakes up!"
The painting was painted for an exhibition I had at a Women in Networking conference in 2022 and was named "Freedom Celebration". The picture is painted in acrylic, but is also available as a signed digital print. The motif fits well on the wall in a child's room, but also works for young people and adults. Last week the original was sold and disappeared from my gallery! It is always a little sad to sell pictures that I have spent a lot of time on and have come to love, but it is a great joy when the pictures mean something to others.
The woman who bought it said; "I want my daughter to have this on the wall in her room! Then she can look at it both when she falls asleep and when she wakes up! She will enjoy looking at it now that she is little, and as she gets older."
Images speak and communicate, and those who see the images can take away different messages. This is a very concrete image, almost an illustration, and the message is about celebrating freedom.
The experience of freedom might look like this! Dancing with your head held high, without fear, condemnation, and inhibitions! Freedom is not gray and boring, but full of life and color! It is contagious and others can easily join in the dance. I also had to include my beloved goose in the picture! "Gasse" was sociable, enjoyed life and often followed me with his wings raised!
My question is, are you aware of what your children are focusing their eyes on? Is it something positive, and a message they want to carry with them into their lives? Maybe this is something to think about the next time a birthday is coming up!
